Where were you?

I guess everyone, today, can remember where they were and what they were doing on September 11, 2001.  I was working at the Indiana State Capital.  Busy in meetings, getting only glimpses of or reports of the burning, tumbling towers. Our youngest son working on the east coast, frantically tried to reach me or his mother by phone.  He wanted me to go home, leave the capital just in case it might be another target. His love and concern was heart warming,  yet I assured him the Indiana Capital wouldn’t be high on anyone’s target list.

This is the 12 anniversary of the attack.  An important date, but your age dictates which of a series of dates is important.  Those of us alive at the time can also remember where we were at the assassinations of JFK, and his in brother Bobbie Kennedy,  or Martin Luther King.

There a few still around that can recall December 7, 1941, “a date that will live in infamy”.

It is interesting, that no matter what you think about it, the events, surrounding these dates, were designed to strike terror upon someone.   Pushing terror is a bullying approach to win your position.

If we consider the basic of people involved, the targets and the targeters , there “appears” to be a difference in faith. The basic faith of one group is that you never forget, but you need to forgive (eventually).  The basic faith of the other group, is you never forget and you never forgive, and you always seek revenge.

Where were you and what were you doing yesterday, when (as the news reported) Syrian Rebels surrounded a town and gave the occupants the choice of converting to Islam or be beheaded.

Some say the Revelation is an historical document, that everything has already occurred.  But, there is a passage that says if you don’t worship (the beast) you will be killed”.  Some believe that is to be beheaded.

I know it’s VERY difficult to follow every day, since I’m only human, but I’m glad I’m part the faith that pushes forgiving.
